Reviving the Soul of America
HANNAH FAULKNER
G.K. Chesterton is often attributed to have said, “Tolerance is the virtue of a man with no conviction.” (1) Many of the issues we battle today shouldn’t even be up for debate. The fact that they are reveals how far we’ve strayed from God. We have forgotten the One who has blessed this nation. As a society, we’ve become complacent and apathetic. We've lost sight of why we left England in the first place: religious liberty.
America is a nation like no other—founded not on the ideas of men, but on principles rooted in God. John Adams declared, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”(2) Our Founders recognized that this great experiment called America could only succeed if grounded in Biblical truth. As I often say, when the fifty-six men signed the Declaration of Independence, they weren’t just declaring independence from tyranny—they were declaring dependence on God.
Throughout my journey, I often look to William Bradford for inspiration. As a young man, he showed remarkable courage, humility, and strength. At just sixteen, Bradford faced a life-altering choice: follow Christ and be disowned by his family, or abandon his faith. He chose Christ. He chose the uncomfortable. Though rejected by his family, his radical obedience to God led him to become a key leader of the Mayflower and a cornerstone of the religious liberty we enjoy today.
My greatest hope and prayer is that my generation will be as bold as Bradford—to stand for truth, no matter the cost. As John Adams once said, “Always stand on principle, even if you stand alone.” (3)
Now is the time. It’s time for every American—regardless of age, background, or race—to rise and defend this Republic. Change begins in our own homes and communities. Start with your family, and never back down.
God bless you, and God bless this beautiful Republic!

1. Google AI: The quote, "Tolerance is the virtue of a man without convictions," is attributed to G.K. Chesterton, a prolific English writer, poet, and philosopher of the early 20th century. However, it's important to note that the American Chesterton Society, a leading authority on Chesterton's work, indicates that this specific quote cannot be definitively found verbatim in his writings. While the exact wording might not be traceable to Chesterton, the sentiment behind the quote strongly aligns with his broader philosophical views on conviction and tolerance. Chesterton often argued that true tolerance should not come at the expense of deeply held beliefs and convictions. He believed that a society built solely on tolerance without strong convictions risked becoming apathetic and indifferent. Therefore, while Chesterton may not have uttered the precise words, the quote's core idea reflects his overall perspective on the relationship between tolerance and deeply held beliefs.
