The Forensics of Faith

As a technologist, forensic scientist, inventor, and C-suite executive, I have spent decades examining systems, evidence, and innovations with exacting standards. In doing so, I consistently encounter the unmistakable presence of God. His hand appears across every domain I touch, from the intimate wonder of family life to the vast intelligence of nature, the rigorous proofs of science, and the creative process of invention itself.

I first recognized this divine signature most powerfully as a father. Watching my children develop in the womb and emerge as complete, loving human beings is profoundly moving. The precision with which organs form, hearts beat independently, and unique personalities unfold defies simple explanation. These perfect little beings arrive equipped with innate capacities for love and discovery. In those moments, biology reveals itself as far more than mechanical process. It stands as living testimony to intentional, masterful design.

This wonder deepened through my upbringing in a farm and ranching family. God’s genius appears in nature’s self-sustaining cycles. A single seed carries the complete blueprint for growth, knowing the rhythms of seasons, when to germinate, how to draw nourishment, and how to produce fruit before returning to the earth. Crops and livestock adapt with remarkable resilience. Ecosystems function in seamless harmony, soil, water, pollinators, and plants contributing to a regenerative whole that has endured for generations. On the ranch, one observes not randomness but purposeful engineering at every scale.

As a forensic scientist, the evidence becomes quantitatively irrefutable. The mathematical probabilities required for life’s complexity, combined with planetary timescales involved in natural adaptation patterns, dismantles notions of purely random evolutionary explanations. The intricate interdependencies, precision of genetic coding, and statistical improbability of functional biological systems arising by chance or mere survival of the fittest do not hold. Instead, the fossil record, genetic timelines, and Earth’s history point to deliberate guidance. Every species and ecological relationship serves a distinct role in a miraculous, ordered design sustained across eons.

This truth resonates most personally in my work as a technologist and inventor. Being made in God’s image means sharing His creative capacity, not in physical form, but in our endowed ability to conceive ideas in the mind and manifest them into tangible reality. An invention begins as thought and becomes tangible through disciplined effort and free will. In this process, we mirror the divine pattern. God originates everything with perfect wisdom. We, exercising the gifts He gave, originate solutions that improve lives, solve problems, and serve humanity. He is the ultimate CEO, the Chief Everything Originator, whose essence we reflect each time we innovate with purpose.

Across these roles and experiences, the pattern remains consistent. God reveals Himself through the birth of a child, the cycles of the land, the logic of mathematics and time, and the spark of human invention. His wisdom undergirds it all, inviting recognition and thoughtful stewardship. In a world of complex systems and rapid change, this awareness provides both grounding and inspiration, a reminder that we participate in something far greater than ourselves.
